International Volunteers Day

I could not resist another quick post showing the signs we created for local Kiosk owners of Gleno for Integrational Volunteers Day. Jocelyn and I covered 2 Kiosks and the other CED volunteers covered a bunch more. We had identified Kiosks which did not have physical signs outside of their shops. Our intent was to work with the Kiosk owners to design and paint their signs. It worked out really well and the Kiosk Owners were able to design their signs on paper and we were then able to use the help of the children living at the kiosk to paint the signs. Much mess ๐Ÿ–Œ but much fun. Some photos of our day are shown below. First photo is of Paskal who is a local carpenter who helped us with holes in the boards (nice chap ๐Ÿ˜).

Some of the other CED team signs shown below. Pretty awesome effort by everyone!

As we finished the 2nd sign at Claudiana’s the heavens opened. I have NEVER seen so much rain fall anywhere like it did this afternoon. The roads were literally rivers. I took a photo of the road near my house (below) and you can see the local kids playing in the water. And yes, the kid on the right (his nickname is “Malai”) is almost completely submerged ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ˜. As I see the kids here more and more, I see they have a really happy childhood with relatively little.

Thanks for reading. Cheers! James.
